Artist's Statement
I have always felt a wonderful, strong connection to nature. As a warrior, I travel the world to capture an image, then bring it home and make it my own. My hand-painted photographs portray the faces and sites of old soul cultures-a Peruvian Indian woman wearing a stovepipe hat, the spiritual pull of the Himalayan Mountains at dawn, the Navajo horseman poised against the sun-suffused rock of the American Southwest. I use soft pastel oil paints to mimic the tones of rock, wood and water, and the weather-shaped faces of indigenous people.

Photography best expresses my spontaneity. I paint the sky to reflect my mood, the light shades of dawn, the bright blue of an afternoon sky, or the deep, vibrant hues of a sunset. I may photograph the serenity of an unwalked ocean shoreline, or playfully pose a starfish in a miniature beach chair catching the rays!

I started my business "Forty Winters" on a bitter gray winter day, during which I found solace in painting my photographs of sunny days and familiar places.
